I was pleasantly surprised by both Howie B. new album Turn the Dark Off
and Spring Heel Jack's Busy Curious Thirsty. Howie's last album didn't
do too much for me, but this one is borderline excellent. A few tracks
for the dancefloor-- (fizzy in my mouth, Angels go bald:too, butt meat)
a few with aj flavor (sore brown eyes, hopscotch), some good electronicy
stuff (switch) and some just wierdness (take your parnter by the hand).
I've always recognized Spring Heel Jack as good, but not really my
thing. Maybe I never gave it enough time to grow on me before. The
album definately turns dark toward the end, I prefer the beginning with
some great horns samples strangely but appropiately placed. There's
even a baby crying mixed in somewhere.
anyways, both are worth checking out.

np: the kids soundtrack
has anyone heard Folk Implosions full length? It came out a while ago,
I heard some negative stuff about it but never got around to listening
to it.
