Transmat is the label started by Derrick May, one of the founding
fathers of Detroit techno. There are about 20 releases so far,
most of which are still in print and available through Submerge
in Detroit. There is also a CD compilation called DERRICK MAY:
INNOVATOR that collects most of Derrick's output for the label.
I believe this is getting a US domestic release soon. If you
only have one techno album in your collection, this is the one
to have. HIGHLY recommended.
