Hey,

While I agree with you that a drumnbass portishead album would have been
a bad idea, that is not what I meant by "growth." A drumnbass phead album
would have been more akin to sellout in my eyes (has anyone else noticed
that drumnbass remixes have become downright OBLIGATORY for artists these
days?) However, just making "Dummy II" seems pointless as well.
Let me just first say that I like DUmmy, I think amazing things are going
on on that album, and it certainly set the standard for the genre. BUT,
its hard to get around the fact that every song on the album is still
just another version of every other song on the album. Its totally
forgivable though because the song is so damn good. And you cant hold a
groups overall style against them. BUt there's a fine line between style
and redundancy, and in portishead's case, anything that is not
progression might as well be regression.
keep in mind I have every right to retract these words when the full
length hits the stores. As it is I've only heard two tracks.
