Renee Geyer is a soul/funk singer from Australia - she's still gigging
around here, but she did her *funkiest* work in the 70s. This track is
from the album "Ready to Deal" from 1975, which I reckon is the best of her
albums in this period. The opening track on that album, "Sweet Love", has
also made it on to some recent Australian compilations, and is unbelievably
dope [I had no idea there was some funky shit going on over here at the
same time that Skyhooks and Sherbert were glam-oz-rocking ... ;-) - made me
kinda proud!] . If you get into Renee, the other good album to check out
is "Really Really Love You", which is a live album from the same period
(featuring a young Doug Williams on back-up vocals for those Sydney-siders
who are interested...). If you wanna track down the CDs, try Greg's World
at http://www.ozemail.com.au/~gregl/index.html which specialises in
Australian stuff. For vinyl over the net, Dusty Groove at
http://dustygroove.com/ sometimes have some of her stuff, although it's
usually expensive given that it's obscure Australian vinyl ....
hope that helps
peece...
