As a deeper-than-average PFunk fan, I've got to say Live and Kickin' is
a rip off. Well over half of the material comes from the 4 cd live set
AEM Records put out back in 1993. That set is called Live 1972-93
and includes performances covering that time period. It's much better
done than this latest attempt by someone (record company, George
Clinton) to fool the public with inferior P-Funk product. [Doesn't this
also include that song with the Dazz Band?!?! Wotsup with that?]
Furthermore, for those really feeling the funk, the AEM set was also
released in Japan and Europe with totally different tracks. Rumor has it
that if you get all 3, you get the complete shows that the set was
culled from. But as I don't have all 3, I can't verify it.
If you can't find the AEM box set, there are other live P-Funk records
that do a better job of representing the band. The Westbound Live at the
Beverly THeatre was already mentioned. There is also Parliament Live a
double album from 1977 that is out on cd.
