GIANT STEP AND LEVI'S PRESENT
#7 OF 12 OF "MILES A HEAD"

** NINJA TUNE W/ DJ CAM AND THE REINFORCED CREW **

>From the depth of the subways and the shadows of blended
cityscapes, emerges a force, counter-culture chameleons
sliding between genres with stealth-like audacity. Armed with
weapons of wax, solid steel and diamond tipped swords, NINJA TUNE
meld a dancefloor force with screams of tilted bass and slanted snare.
It is in the Flexistential belief that leaves no ear safe from
the strength of a NINJAS¹ beating .

The NINJA TUNE clan is now on the move and stopping NYC to create
some ³FUNKUNGFUSION². On 4 floors and 1 rooftop with floor and four
NINJA reps to hold domain on separate realms.
*
Herbalizer, the team of Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba take to four decks.
Their weapon of choice; jazzy hip hop skits with jabs of trip funk.
The decorated skills have been displayed on the ³Flawed Hip hop E.P.²
and their full length ³Blow Your Headphones¹¹.
*
DJ VADIM, skills sharpened in Mother Russia, takes you into the
world of down tempo. Religiously solid beats are what hold you
firm as your mind is carried by lengthy sample waves and orchestral
sound floods.
*
The diversion and confusion technique is mastered by the CHOCOLATE WEASEL.
Their candy store of beats definitely keeps your pockets full with heavy
hip hop gob stoppers and morsels of drum and bass. They then go in to
finish you off with some acid dipped funk. Prepare to be amused, confused
and sweetly satisfied.
*
>From the England¹s west coast shores, where the standard is a razor
sharp electro sword and only the most skilled survive, comes NEOTROPIC.
The secret technique is coming off center and striking fierce with dub
and hip hop. She comes to Speeed with a live set up to move the floor organically.
*
Also joining the NINJA TUNE crew are special guests

DJ CAM -direct from Paris- celebrating his soon to be released new album,
"THE BEAT ASSASSINATED"

And from the Reinforced Crew -drum n bass specialists 4 HERO, DJ REBEL, STRETCH
and MC M.A.D. TRULY STELLAR!

** URBAN TAP **

³Under the tapping soles of Herbin Van Cayseele, a square of plywood
speaks like a fast talking drum, footwork is lightning fast and elegant
and the musicians read the taps like a letter !² DAILY NEWS

Combining shattering rolls of toe-heal with smoothed out graceful slides,
Herbin Van Cayseele, creator and visionary of the movement URBAN TAP,
makes his art look simple. It is not enough for him to merely move with
the music, he is insistent on being part of the music. By transforming his
body into a one man percussion machine Herbin uses the stage to its
fullest - going as far as to battle a DJ scratch for scratch - using drum
Œn bass, trip hop and groove jazz as a soundscape, recreating turntable
skills with the sand under his feet.

³There are no maps on Herbin¹s taps, his dancing draws from the rhythms
of Africa, the streets of Paris and New Yorks clubs. It is eloquent,
boisterous and subtle² NEW YORK TIMES

Herbin is joined on stage by a seamless ensemble of musicians, dancers
and performers including Vado the stilt dancer, Vishal Kumar (vocals),
Karsh (drums/tablas), DJ Signfy live in the mix, the powerful driving
capoeira performance by Cabello, on the taps Max Pollak, Rod Ferrone,
the legend Buster Brown and a slew of special guests.

³The audience was transfixed, Van Cayseele was resplendent - the stage

** MORCHEEBA LIVE **
w/ special guest JIM WHITE

Two brothers, one a Delta blues fan and the other
plugged into a pair of turntables create an ambient layering
of hip hop and soul that rubs elbows with Œ60¹s psychedelic rock.
That and the almost hypnotic vocal ability of a petite lead singer,
Skye Edwards, lures fan after fan with sweet seductive croons.
This we call Morcheeba.

"Who Can You Trust?!" Morcheeba's smoky debut is now followed up by
their latest "The Big Calm". Their new style shifts past trip hop
adding bits and pieces of dramatic theatrical themes and ska inspired
blends ³that illustrate Morcheeba¹s genre busting ingenuity² -Paper Magazine.
They first take you through the dark side of the moon with a Pink Floydish
track, ³The Sea² and then on a journey filled with sitars, steel guitars,
orcastrated string lines and subtle scratches. ³Skye¹s sweetly angelic
vocals, seep easily into your consciousness² proclaims Vibe Magazine and
Rolling Stone gives 3 1/2 stars stating ²Big Calm is an unpredictable,
seductive album.² Come see it live!!

Joining the bill is very special guest JIM WHITE.
Like the outsider folk artist who astounds with the nuances of a
highly personal vision, Jim White - and his music - defies easy
categorizing. The native of Pensacola Florida unmasks the demons of
his inner being through a hick hop southern gothic persona. Picked up
by Luaka Bop, David Byrne¹s eclectic record label, for his first release
-²Wrong Eyed Jesus!², White joins the likes of Jon Spencer Blues
Explosion and Beck in exposing the modern-primitve outsider sound.
The magically musical ensemble, where this lovable lunatic finds his
home, includes slide clarinets, acoustic and steel guitars, sleezy
horns and the occasional musical saw.

Behind the moody prowl and raspy voiceovers lies ³with few exceptions,
a thing of intimate beauty², -Melody Maker

Also vibe on opening DJ - CHILLFREEZ, an array of colorful visuals,
our traveling listening post featuring the latest releases to
preview upcoming shows and special Miles A Head give a ways.
