First i must thank Erik.Boralv@cmd.uu.se, if it werent for you i would have
missed N'Dea s gig. Nevertheless i must disagreee with your friends. The band
were as tight and fresh as the Heavies in their prime. N'Deas great voice and the
way she had the crowd totally in her hands...Man, it was a great gig!
A bit short, aprox 1h, but very, very sweet...
And as for doing BNH-songs, well in my opinion it would be much sader to see BNH
with Siedah doing "Dream on dreamer" as it really is N'Deas song.
I can't really verify your playlist since i don't have the titles of her new
material, but the Heavies tracks are right. She also did a Neil Young cover; "Old
man", in a fashion not dissimilar to the folkrock/soul-sound of the latest
Carleen Andersson.
Soft, sounds like Janet Jackson? I must very strongly disagree, it sounded
nothing like JJ. She did a few downtempo songs, ballads if you like, but they
were real funky, and could easily have been on the Brother Sister album. One of
the songs were a Bobby Bland cover, and not being a bluesfan it sounded a bit
ordinary and, well boring...Only when she got to the end her wonderful voice
reached such heights that the title of that old Stevie Wonder song came to mind,
you know; "The old folks call it the blues, but I call it pretty music".
I don't wanna diss Eriks friends, they're entitled to their opinion of course,
but whatever you do kids, don't miss N'Dea if she comes to your town.

feel the funk y'all - have a good time
