dobie--"original headz"/"b-boy anthem" & "luv & hate (can never be friends)"
straight-up hiphop from the uk. featured lyrics by soul controlla & rodney
p.
really fat beats, nice rhymes and a cool-ass instrumental track (hiphop and
rap are *not* synonymous).
dobie--"basement rock"
heavy beats at a nice clip--none of this "slug hop" stuff. the vocal is
alright, but i mostly use the instrumental of the original mix. the remix is
a little too mellow for my tastes. the mc is soul controlla.
rodney p--"things in time"
unfortunately, i don't have the 12" for this yet, i'm still rockin' this off
cam's "dj kicks", but i dig this cat! he's definitely british, but still
ruff! i really like his vibe, stylistically he doesn't seem to be biting
*anyone*!!! of course, the music track doesn't hurt either--i'm a sucker for
that grant green "down here on the ground" loop; i almost couldn't sleep when
i 1st heard "eine kleine hed musik"--which i mistakenly thought was k & d's
"deep shit".
i'm really liking some of the new uk hiphop WITH mcs--we in the u.s.

for a long time our u.k. bros couldn't handle a mic--the djs are gettin' down
in a major way too...
