I guess the general consensus is that MDs are good and perfect for stuff
you'd normally copy on cassette;
as MDs were meant to replace the cassette tape, and not CDs or anything
else. And if you're producing your own music, and need the cleanest format
possible, DAT is the way to go.

Does anyone know if any MD recorders have SP/DIF digital jacks? I know MD
4-track recorders came out a few years ago (none have digital i/o though),
but I swore not to give them a look until they came out with an 8-track
version...until Yamaha came out with an 8-track MD just recently.

Also, sorry for lengthening the tangent, but if anyone knows about a
low-priced PC soundcard with digital i/o - *besides* the Sound Blaster
SWE64 Gold - let me know. I just made a DAT recording of my band's recent
show and I'm dying to do some processing on it on my computer.
