from my little corner of the world (l.a., ca), afro-cuban stuff never had to
"comeback"--it was always popular! it seems to me that, at least in the
u.s.,
anything w/a salsa/mambo flavor would go over (assuming that the track is
good) at any point since the 50's or 60's. brazilian flavor is really
popular here too.

maybe i'm missing the point (probably), but i've always noticed an
appreciation for latin music in american crowds, maybe we're just *buying*
more now.
