Britt used to do a party called Back to Basics back in 94'. It was the
shit, and i have him and Dozia to thank for opening my eyes up to a lot
of this stuff. They used to have a monday thing and there would always
be some dude with a standup bass, playing with the dj and various
rappers on the mic. He also had a real cool acid jazz radio show around
that time called Full Circle that was on the Temple station... But, yea
it's probably the best thing goin' around here. They just redid it with
an asian motif and it's now called Sweet and Sour Silk. Real loungey.
The Groove Lounge night on Wednesdays best recaptures the spirit of Back
to Basics (Britt has moved on from Sylk). I spin occasionally on that
night so stop down and say hello...
