****** NEWS AND INFORMATION FROM O. O. DISCS *****
Three new compact discs released by O. O. DISCS featuring: contemporary
chamber music of STEPHEN 'LUCKY' MOSKO (with the California EAR Unit),
plucking komungo and twanging guitars with JIN HI KIM and the primordial and
exotic music of ANNEA LOCKWOOD.

OO #39. STEPHEN MOSKO: Indigenous Music
It's hard to believe that a composer who has made such a significant
contribution for so many years to the American music scene is just now
releasing the first CD of his music. Composer, conductor and CalArts
professor Lucky Mosko gives us compositions that are like complex tapestries;
variations of variations interwoven to form intricate webs of line and color.
Cascading, chromatic piano arpeggios, fragile harmonics, whistle tones,
jarring bass drum explosions, bending gong notes, and odd, fleeting fragments
of melody merge, collapse, re-emerge, and disappear again in an ever shifting
kaleidoscope of sound. Exquisitely performed by the California EAR Unit.

OO #40. KOMUNGUITAR: Jin Hi Kim
Kim plays the Korean komungo, a 6-string zither similar to the Japanese koto.
She brings her traditional technique and sensibilities to contemporary
improvisation and teams up with guitar aces Elliot Sharp, Derek Bailey, Henry
Kaiser, Eugene Chadbourne, Hans Reichel and David First for a set of searing
duets. ".... an artistically successful meeting of spirits and minds." Option
Magazine; ".... a festival of clever, cruel and witty duets." CMJ

OO #41. THOUSAND YEAR DREAMING: Annea Lockwood
A primal, mystical, gorgeous work for didjeridus, conch shells, contrabass
clarinet, and others. Inspired by the Lascaux cave paintings with an
extraordinary all-star cast of musicians including Jon Gibson, J.D. Parran,
Peter Zummo, Libby Van Cleve and more
