Jackson Pollock Video Screening
This portrait of Pollock combines archival footage of his life and work
with reminiscences from his contemporaries. Pollock, best known for his
famous "drip paintings", helped forge the first great American art
movement: Abstract Expressionism; and was the first American painter
to be
ranked with European masters of the 20th century
Brice Marden Video Screening
Working in the tradition of absolute abstraction, Marden paints large,
monochromatic single-panel works. In this short film, shot over a
period of
nine years in the artist's studio, Marden emerges as articulate and
provocative through direct interview, observation of his work, and
exploration of his notebook.
