NEW MUSIC THIS MONTH
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The crown jewel of this month's new releases has to be the album from 16b entitled "Sounds from Another Room" on Eye Q. We've loaded up all the slamming tracks from this record for you. The press says it all:
"Too good for words, 16b checks in with an instant house music classic - *****" - Mixmag
"For anyone who likes their music funky, soulful and superb, an early contender for album of the year" - Melody Maker
"As close as British house music has come to matching the classic crossover strategies of Paperclip People and Masters at Work" - The Face
And if you don't trust the press, trust us - it rocks.
Mixmaster Mike! Mixmaster Mike! The brand new album from the Beastie Boys' DJ is everywhere, but customizable only at CDuctive. This is turntable wizardry. Buy a few of the 30+ tracks to check him out. If you're hooked, and we bet you will be, go pick up the album. Also new from Asphodel is World Standard's "Country Gazette", produced by Haruomi Hosono (collaborator with Ryuichi Sakamoto). The album has been said to "no less reflect the inner space of a hobo easy rider than the outer space surrounding him." Where words fail to clarify, may we suggest audio samples?
Filter, the offshoot of London's acclaimed Dorado Records, is up and available. Kid Loops, certainly destined for greatness, has contributed some stunning tracks to our catalog, including those from his recent album "TimeQuake". Also unmissable are the tracks from DJ Q, Glasgow house wizard extraordinaire. Also be sure to listen to Sunship and Kid Loops vs. Cool Breeze. This is a label on the move!
East coast underground hip-hop! Our selection continues to grow with Brooklyn's own Raw Shack Productions. Our first installment showcases fat beats and heavy rhymes by J-Live. Also from Brooklyn, by way of Boston, is Madsol Desar's fresh new label, Dark Records. Check out fresh new tracks by Laster and Da Fencemen.
Jazz Fudge Recordings. What a name! What a label! The private brand of Andre Gurov, who records for Ninja Tune under the name DJ Vadim, Jazz Fudge puts out excellent minimal hip-hop. Look for high profile artists like Mark B and Andre himself. Also check out Part 2, Hitmen for Hire, Pelding, and more. For more fine UK hip-hop, be sure to check out Son Records. Brand new and brought to you exclusively by CDuctive, check out new releases by Quakes, UK Cartel, and more.
Holistic Recordings of London likes to keep a low profile. They've graciously agreed to let us help spread the word about their fine records. With jazzy grooves from Fretless AZM and trippy leftfield beats from Universal Being, Holistic is a label most people of taste will be grateful to discover. Core to both acts is Max Brennan, the mad bassist from the Isle of Wight who has been one of the most talked about rising artists on the electronic scene recently. Also check out the jazzy Pnu Riff and the dubby Delta T.
Swim~, a label that never fails to push boundaries, has graced us with their latest release - the full length album by Pablo's Eye entitled "All She Wants Grows Blue". An assortment of ambient and leftfield experimental tracks, this release comes highly recommended.
As the lead track from Derailed/Fused & Bruised's new record says "Call it Brisco (and why not?)". Breakbeat meets disco. Dancefloor stompers all, check out the new tracks from Elite Force, Silverkick, Mild Mannered Janitors, Futurecore and more. Muzik Magazine gives it 4/5 and adds "like Derek Dahlarge doing John Travolta." Hmmm. For fans of the Fused & Bruised tracks already on CDuctive, these are a must have.
Further on the breakbeat tip are new tracks from Capricorn on Sperm Records. Capricorn is somewhat of a legend in electronic music. Among his many credits is the techno anthem "20Hz". Take a look at his big beat comeback.
Direct from Stockholm, Sweden comes NX Level. A diverse label, NX Level's first selection of tracks includes hip-hop from Matthew and Chris Long, techno from NXFiles, and acid jazz and house from The Fever.
A big welcome to London's PiknMix label. We offer you brand new electronic dub releases from The Kaleidoscope. Check it.
