I'd probably snag up everything on Right Tempo/Schema like Quintetto X, Fez
Combo, Paul Achenza and all of the Easy Tempo comps.
Most of the IRMA stuff is pretty great too. As a whole, I usually like
their compilations better than their group releases, but bands like Man
Sueto and Bossa Nostra are quite excellent.
Plus, I'm sure Italy has a bunch of stuff that the rest of the world just
hasn't heard yet, which may be a better bet since most of the above is
readily available anywhere.
There is a review and some Real Audio samples of Quintetto X at
Multi-Directions, as well as reviews of other Italian releases such as
Balanco, Jestofunk, The Cocktail Shaker, Swingin' Cheese, etc.
