Cam & Jam spun a pretty boring set that started out with
hip hop beats and moved progressively uptempo into a few housey
kinda things then into drumnbass (at which point I left). They
did not manage to capture the audience for more than
a coupla minutes at any time
Tho they did drop a few nice hip hop joints the two djs had
no flow - just when they'd get you into a song they would
switch the beat up or play something wack.
Lots of Funk Flex 93/94/AV8 style generic hip hop breaks
with Go Brooklyn chants
Jam was dropping tracks and Cam was cutting on top, both
looked bored, apprehensive, nervous. His cuts were nice but
gratuitous - wasnt adding nothing to the beats
there was no communication between the 2 DJs
A couple of nice dancehall tracks - anybody know the name of
the Bam Bam remix with the fat hip hop beat? That was probably
the most slamming song.
The drumnbass came on like a klutz tripping on the sidewalk.
Though i like it sometimes I wasnt feeling it last night - he was
playing some ragga style shit that sounded old and played out.
At that point I decided to break out cos I was being put to sleep
anyway.
I've never heard him spin before so maybe this was an off night.
I actually heard from lister sandman (whats up!) that he has spun fat sets
in the past.
But I think that a good producer does not a good DJ make, and
it's a shame when somebody who makes fat beats and sells
lots of records cant rock a crowd.
