I quite like this - Stardust in it's own right is becoming quite big over
here, but the mix with Madonna really stands out, in my opinion. I like it.

Funny, i was talking to a friend (the one that I make the compilations with)
and we both came up with that Impeach the president chorus when we saw Bill
Clinton do his belated confession on CNN and with the non-serious idea of
doing a compilation around that theme.
with Gil's Watergate blues on it, I shot Reagan by Non Phixion..
Liar by Henry Rollins etc.... there must be enough material...
cheers,
Jeroen

There are very few labels i trust so much that i will buy anything from
them without having heard it first. Ninja Tune and Mo'Wax are pretty
obvious choises.. at least for me. But that doesnt only have to do with
the music they put out, its sort of a collectors-thing too... i WANT to
have it all even if it sucks.
I guess the only labels which have ONLY put out stuff i like is
Oceanfloor, Jazz Fudge and Solesides... If you are bale to find a few
labels that you trust 100% you're lucky. Not only does it make it easyer
when youre buying music, but its fun too cuz you will probably end up
owning their whole catalogue, and thats kinda cool (i dono about you
guys, but im a completist).
Uhm..oh yeah. Listening to the music first is a must! Thats why i love
RealAudio as much as i do. 90% of the stuff i but are things i have
heard on the net first.
Actualy yesterday i placed a pretty big order (32 LPs and 12"s) at
Action-Records, while i was surfing for RA's with another browser.
It really worked well... i started chekcing the V Recordings
backcatalogue (which i wasnt very familiar with *blush*) at
http://www.cductive.com and whenever i found something i liked i just
added it to my order at http://www.action-records.co.uk :)

to my knowledge, it's still only availible as an import. if you're on
virgin's promo list, you may get one soon--everyone else check the
cutout/promo bins at your favorite used shop frequented by djs...
p.s. the blur mix *is* good!! oddly enough, they took out the guitars
--who'd a thunk a *rock* band would dispense w/the staple instrument?
there's a mad professor mix of angel, too--more promo stuff...

Recently got Craig Armstrong's "The Space Between Us", his debut CD.
For those of you who haven't heard of him, he is a Massive Attack protégé,
composer and arranger. He is responsible for those whooping string sections.
This is a great album. Liz Fraser has one track in it too.
Not as beat driven as MA, this in intensely cinematic.
I recommend this.

Here is the track listing for the import.
1. angel (mixed by mark 'spike' stent)
2. angel (remixed by damon albarn & graham coxon of blur) 3.
group four (mad professor remix)
You can purchase it now as an import. CDNow has it for
$12.49. I purchased mine from http://www.x-radio.com
for $8.50. They have low stock of the stuff so you
better order quickly

Yes space between us is nice. I was lucky to find it for $4 at a used cd
store
I must have mentioned this beforre on the list, but on the topic of
melankolic, you have to check out ALPHA. That Cd is incredibly beautiful.
They are supposed to have a remix album in september that i cant wait
for it.
I also heard lewis Parker whole album RA on the melanckolic site. Pretty
decent. Im
waiting to buyfrom the local indy store, who promises to order.
also just as a reminder, massive is touring US starting next week or so.
and lewis parker
is opening for them. Ill repost the dates if anyone needs.

You're not the only one.
Other labels:
Science (Photek's imprint), La Yellow (The Mighty Bop, Louis Vertigo, etc.
French), starting on Talkin' Loud (4 Hero, Courtny Pine, UFO, Roni
Size/Represent), and we can't forget Blue Note, the old stuff and just
released MM&W, and Don Byron (clarinet) with Biz Markie on the mic.

Alpha's debut "Come From Heaven" is one of the most beautiful yet also
dark and mysterious works I have heard in along time. I was hoping they
would be the opening act for the US Massive Attack show as I read they
opened some shows in Europe but Lewis Parker will be opening and that
should be cool as well. Anyone going to the Massive show in DC?
