thanks for all those who showed up to DMC's sold out U.S. 98' Technics
DJ championships last saturday and for the positive posts on this list
from Nathaniel Rahav and Michael Aregood. turntable culture is alive
and kickin' and we received outstanding reviews in the new york times,
village voice, many music pubs! the world championshihps will be held
in paris on october 18 at parc des expositions, portes de versailles.
next year, the world championships will take place in new york. expect
an event that is 20 x as big as last saturday's.

i'm not an expert on watching these events, but as i am a native san
franciscan of filipino descent, going into the event, i was routing for
shortcut. however, after watching craze's mad skills, i think the
judgement was very fair. i also thought kuttin kandy put on a good
show.

Nathaniel, funny that you met Tony Prince at the bar you were
spinning...he's a wonderfully charming and funny man who is truly
dedicated to dj culture. he started dmc over 15 years ago and was a dj
way back in the day and still collects records to this day. whenever he
is in new york, you'll find him at the chelsea flea market every weekend
collecting records.

will probably go to ps1 today as someone posted earlier this week --
i think stacy pullen and dj cam are spinning. incidentally, dj cam was
at the dmc finals.

peace,
caron banez
