The short version is "buy it". I've not listened to much else the last few
days - it's even better than the first LP. If you liked the single
"flipside" then you will definitely like the LP. I guess the stuff from the
first LP that gives the best pointer at what this one is like are things
like "I Can't Help Myself" and "Butterfly 747" - the beats are more on the
drum & bass tip than "Tight Sweater", but it's all just as twisted as
before.
On a completely different note, if you're into the soul/R&B side of things,
the new Beverly Knight album is well worth checking out. It's not exactly
"nu soul" but it is a nice LP, and some of the tunes are quite jazzy in a
Donald Fagen-ish sort of way (check "Greatest Day Of My Life" for instance.)
