i would feel more comfortable given the parameters (jazzy, funky)
recommending attica blues, actually. portishead can definitely lay down the
funk (when they want to), but i wouldn't describe them as being jazzy, even
though there *are* little jazz bits--it's not really the vibe i get off
them,
the darkness comes thru a lot more.
