I would have to agree here. Though I am not the biggest stereolab fan
(like you erik, I just never got around to giving them a chance), I have
been getting into them lately (as well as another band called AMerican
Analog Set who fans of stereolab should check out). Also, since I work in
a record store that specializes mostly in indie music and most my friends
are also into that stuff, I've heard enough about stereolab (as well as
having heard enough bits and pieces of most their albums), I would say
the general consensus is it doesn't matter where you star with Stereolab,
because none of it will disapoint you, BUT, don't start with Dots and
Loops (the newest one).
By the way there is also an album out by a group called Turn On, which is
members of stereolab, which sounds like stereolab, which is a little more
danceable than typical stereolab.
