At the moment I'm listening to a compilation of Jimi Hendrix's blues
songs cleverly named Jimi Hendrix: Blues. But before I answer any
further, I would like to know what do you call acid jazz? Is Mo'Wax
stuff acid jazz? Is big beat acid jazz? Or is acid jazz understood
narrow-mindedly as the Brand New Heavies-Jamiroquai-Chris Bangs-
kinda music? .. I know, this has been discussed.
So. I don't much like d'n'b but I like techno and house and listen
to none of those. I love good rap (and hate gangsta shit) and kinds
of Roots, MC Solaar, Menelik and Latyrx are often seen in my record
player. Then jazz, my loves include amongst others Miles Davis,
Charles Mingus and Kenny Dorham, and blues. Then sixties psychedelic
rock and Neil Young and Tom Waits and REM and The Verve and
songs of the Finnish leftist movement from the seventies and indie
rock (Lou Barlow!) and more. Okay, you get the point. Mostly music
that people have don't with their hearts in it.
