I finally got my hands on the Frying the Fat compilation on Grand Central
records after looking
for it for about a year. I loved the Central Heating compilation, but
Frying the Fat really blows
it away even though it is only a single disk vs. Central Heating double CD.
Is there anything new
out on Grand Central records. I particularly was blown away by all of the
First Prority Tracks.
I got a promo advance of the new Goldie CD "Saturnz return." I personally
prefer Timeless.
The 60-minute ochestral "Mother" is adventurous, but it has so much
downtime and only
about a good 15-minutes of pure drum-n-bass. I'm not blown away by
"Digital." Most of the
tracks sound like nothing new. Maybe I should listen to it more.
Federation's new one "Headspinz" on Cup of Tea Records is so different from
their last one.
It sounds like a totally different band.
By far the best CD I've purchased the past few months has got to be
Spacer's "Sensory Man"
on Pussyfoot Records. It has these swirling, lush strings that are so
dramatic that there
is nothing recent than can compare.
I'm also quite disappointed in the new D-Influence "London." It sounds like
they are trying
to become overly commercial compared to their last effort, "Prayer for
Unity." The song
that is fantastic "Lonely" is less than two-minutes long. If it wasn't for
that song, I wouldn't
even put it back in my Cd player.
