ro> any additional info would be great! :)
don't know much about the group, but i had to respond to the bit about dub!
dub *used to* be a type of reggae, but it's outgrown that and is now its own
genre. the basic elements of dub are a repetitive groove (the more
hypnotic,
the better), and manipulation of the sound of instruments and/or vocals as a
source of interest (dramtic changes are usually preferred--including muting
1 or more of the instruments or vocals, and/or applying echo & other sound
effects).
good examples of dub tracks:
night nurse (cottonbelly remix)-gregory isaacs (from dubmission 2 on quango)
harmonicas are shite-fila brazilia (b-side of "a zed & 2 l's" on pork)
radiation ruling the nation-mad professor vs. massive attack ("no
protection"
on wild bunch--dist by virgin (?))
ion storm-black uhuru (from "the dub factor")
