Dear list: I was at Tower records and while there I got a chance to
hear the Uk group Cornershop 's Cd on The headphone set-up they have
there. Verdict: Not bad at all . This group was selrcted as having made
Spin Magazine album of the year. They have also shown up on other best
of lists. Well, From what I heard it is at least plausible(unlike
sleater Kinney). Automator did some of the beats and it is kinda good.
They use sitars and beats and strummed guitars and they have a guy
singing lead in a kinda dorky voice. Its pretty cool. also tried to
hear the X-xecutioner(x-men) turntablist album but the 'phones were
fritzin so all I heard were the scratches as the rest of the stereo mix
got dropped out due to some glitch at that particular listening
station . ************************************
POrtishead On SNL NEXT SATURDAY**************88 I saw this while
watching this weeks Snl . I hope the exposure puts them over like it did
for Fiona Apple. of course she was helpled by some remixes and some
underwear. Plus she is younger/pettier thn beth and more inlined to
talk(yes lord!)
