I've heard it. Sounds cool. Looks like Tjinder Singh (Cornershop's lead
man) is turning out to be
the British-Indian version of Beck. Or simply just the British Beck even.
They're deserving of a lot of the acclaim but "album of the year" seems a
bit much. I guess Spin was looking for the perfect compromise between
post-grunge rock and electronica and I guess Cornershop is it.

Yup, it's true. Portishead performs on 'Saturday Night Live.' I hope they
get to play two songs. Most musical acts these days only get to play one
tune. Shit, they gave friggin Hanson two songs, so I dunno.
I'm curious to see what Portishead's live setup is like.

Portishead-Mania is sort of an awkward thing. Their name is all over the
place, yet they get minimal radio airplay while trip-hop followups Sneaker
Pimps, Morcheeba and Hooverphonic seem to get more. And every record
reviewer who's raved about their current album acts like they've heard
"Dummy" before, when in reality, back in '94, nobody really talked about
it. Their new album is cool, but it didn't blow me away like "Dummy" did
four years ago.
