<< I also wonder if any of this had to do with Delicious Vinyl seeing whether
"Shelter" could make an impact in the U.S. I know "Sometimes" got poor
airplay on U.S. radio, which is an improvement over the "Brother Sister"
singles (where it got extremely poor airplay), but I guess the negative
reations were so great that
it probably sold less than "Brother Sister," despite all the marketing and
publicity they gave the band and the album in the U.S. (i.e. The Guess
jeans website (the short-lived "www.brandnewheavies.com"), the Smokin'
Grooves tour, various TV appearances, etc.)

BNH made TV appearances in the US? I was under the impression that they got
little or no promotion here in the US as has been the case with all of their
albums. They get almost NO airplay and believe it or not, many people I talk
to have NEVER heard of the Brand New Heavies. Hmmm, how many people can say
that about the ever-so-narcistic Sean "Puffy" Combs. If the Heavies got a
fraction of the promo that he and his "family" have, then they would be doing
much better. But this is the case with many of the quality acid-jazz bands
out there. Because they don't fit into the main stream popular culture, they
are dismissed and ignored by all but the relativly few individuals (at least
here in the US) who seek them out. But then maybe the "main stream popular
culture" is also to blame (at least in part). I just hate to see such a
quality band go unheard. Well, that's my 2 cents...
