If you are just starting out with bossa or Antonio Carlos Jobim, I don't
think that Black Orpheus is the place to start. It's certainly a
masterpiece and is often labeled as the start of the bossa nova, but much
of it isn't really focused on what most people would consider bossa nova.
It seems to center more on urban sounds (like what you would hear downtown
in any big city). It does focus on percussion and rhythms a lot though,
which is all good, but if you are looking for bossa, samba, or a good
representation of ACJ, don't start with this one.

Try something like The Composer Of Desafinado Plays (Verve, 1963) or Wave
(A&M, 1967). Both are top notch.
