The normal sentiment is "fuck MTV," but I think anybody who has seen M2
knows that its the less commercial sister with all the left over videos that
arent poppy enough.

I got this article from billboard.com

MTV Europe To Broadcast TV Station On Web
On Aug. 3, MTV Networks Europe will launch the Internet's first TV station.
Designed as a freeform music channel, M2 Europe will initially be available
24 hours a day at www.m2europe.com; the station will continue the webcasts
after it goes on-air as a full digital TV service via Canal Digital in
Scandinavia, which is scheduled to occur Oct. 1. M2's Web site is operated
in partnership with Internet service provider PSINet and uses RealAudio
streaming software.

Peter Good, M2 managing editor and former MTV Networks controller of music
programming, reveals that "there is no playlist in effect" at the station.
Instead, he tells Christian Lorenz, music business/talent editor of
Billboard sister publication Music & Media, "We invite artists and viewers
to compile their own hour of videos for us." Air, Pulp, Money Mark, and Nick
Cave are among the artists who provided programming for the launch.

M2 was launched by MTV Networks in the U.S. in August 1996 and currently
reaches an estimated 10 million U.S. households, according to the company.
Like its U.S. sister channel, M2 Europe will have no advertising.
