The MPC is great...It's a popular machine, so I'm sure you might not have
trouble running into people to swap sounds with. The other one you probably
might want to consider is the new Roland SP-808. I don't think it's
sequencing features are better than the MPC, but it has wild-ass
filters/effects that the MPC can't touch, also longer sample time, plus
it's got a built-in Zip drive.

If you already have a (SCSI) Zip drive, you might want to consider the MPC
with the SCSI option, so you can use the Zip drive.

Keyboard samplers interest me more, but in your case, I would suggest
trying out both the MPC2000 and SP-808 and seeing which one meets your needs.
