For MIDI alone, even a 386 dinosaur is powerful enough! If you are serious
about MIDI, I *do*
recommend getting a separate, dedicated MIDI interface card (or box via
parallel port). I seriously discourage people from using their
SoundBlasters as a MIDI interface - the timing on those things are horrible
and can create problems. The port in your SoundBlaster is better suited for
a joystick!
As for digital audio, well, that's a different story. But you're looking
for a sampler anyway....
