Is Lauryn Hill a Dreamgirl?
The Fugees singer is said to have the
inside track on the lead role in director
Joel Schumacher's upcoming film
version of the Broadway musical hit
"Dreamgirls."
The movie is expected to start
shooting in Los Angeles, Las Vegas,
and Harlem in March, and if Hill lands
the part, she will play Deena Jones, a
girl-group singer said to be modeled
after the Supremes' Diana Ross.
It would not be Hill's first acting gig;
she started on the daytime soap "As
The World Turns" in 1991, and went
on to appear in the films "Sister Act
II" and "King of the Hill" in 1993 and
an independent film released this year
called "Restaurant."
Music-wise, Hill's first solo album,
"The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill,"
will arrive on September 20.
