Riz Ortilani is a great composer from the late 60's/70's. I'm not an
authority but his music is great. You can find a sampling of his stuff on
"Beat @ Cinecitta" (Crippled Dick Hot Wax records). I have his soundtrack to
"Bueno Sera, Mrs. Campbell". Loungy, mood music - hence, Portishead.

Dear list: I have heard Portishead namecheck Ruz Ortaliani' Italin
soundtrack of the 70's as an influence. In Urb he cited one called :"
confessions of a Policeman' or somethig. Is this soundtrack available
is the film? By the way I have"mondo Cane"
on Vinyl it is basically hollywood "sweet" music stuff though there
are some weird passages you can use. I paid 50 cents for it in a
stack that include a quad lp of Tomita does Debussy and santanas first
lp with intact poster, so it was a mice buy at the price. it would be an
expensive sample at say, five bucks. I also have an Lp By
"Lothar and The Hand people" lots of fweirdness . No drum breaks
but lots of passages tobu over drums or to intro that jungle tune youre
workin on. Woth the buck 1.50 i paid for it
As music, its very .... different . Not jazz but defintely something
an Artie shepp fan could fit in his crates being strange and noisy. I
just missed out on theLp "attica blues" but I have another Artie shepp
piece and it really proves that the system is and has been making every
possible flavor available to someone somewhere. Its a wonder to
think who can get signed and allowed to create. given the lack of a big
audience for this sort of stuff. Mother Mallard
isanother piece of weirdness. I cant get a sample of this as it is too
industrial and the pulses are too fast. Not a bad haul on "the
neverending goodwill tour"
