The night opened up with a ton of jazz, funk, and hip hop provided by DJs
Big Rich and Philly's famous Jazzy Jeff (minus Fresh Prince). Watching
Jeff spin and cut up records strengthened my conviction that few today
have truly earned the right to be called a real DJ.
Britt and colleagues were definitely full of excitement. The music was so
good, I thought that maybe they were taping the show for a live album.
Other than "When the Funk hits the Fan", the whole show were remixes of
7-8 songs from the album (of course they ended with the remix for Funk
hits the Fan!) And let me take this moment of time to say that Allison
Crockette is truly mesmerizing in both her beauty and her voice.
After the show, I took my weary feet to get myself a Philly cheesesteak
before my drive back to Maryland. Everybody around was humming Sylk tunes
and I thought about a line from the album when Britt says that he wants to
be that DJ, the DJ that saved someone's life. Well I have to thank you
King, you definitely saved mine.
Peace

P.S. At the end of the show, they mentioned that they would be restarting
"Back to Basics", the set that King and family used to spin on Friday
nights at the club Silk City. Instead, it will be on Sunday's starting May
10 and will be at a new club (although I forget the name this second).
