Beware of the boy who cried wolf though! I'd heard numerous stories of
Gil not turning up for gigs or being too wasted to put on a good
performance if he did actually make it so of course I didn't bother
wasting my time getting a ticket when he was scheduled to play in
Edinburgh.

Of course some friends chanced it and took great pleasure in telling
me how I'd missed one of the best gigs I was ever likely to see. The
moral of the story is that if you see one of his gigs advertised there
probably is a strong chance he won't play so be prepared to be
disappointed but don't follow my stupid example whatever you.
