on mtv news this weekend they said that butterfly and ladybug are coming
out with solo cds next year.
There's new life for two members of Digable Planets,
the hip-hop trio that hit big in the early '90s with the
jazz-influenced track, "Rebirth of Slick (Cool
Like Dat)," from its 1993 debut album,
"Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and
Space)."
Despite the crossover success, Digable Planets
disbanded a little over a year later, following the
release of its second album, 1994's "Blowout Comb."
Ladybug, the female MC of the group who now
records under the nom-de-plume Lady Mecca,
is presently in the studio working on a
solo album she hopes to put out in the
summer of 1999. Another one of the
Planets, rapper Butterfly, is also preparing to
make his solo debut, and plans to release his own new
record, tentatively titled "Since 1999," sometime next
spring.
No word yet on what the final member of the trio,
Doodlebug, is working on, but we'll keep you posted.
