I would look at this as a rumor for now, because there are some real
inconsistencies in the story. Here's the big one:
>he basically said that if he had known that so many >chinamen and
niggers were going to buy his clothes, >he never would have made it so
nice...
So, what was he gonna do, make great clothes for white people and
shitty ones for everyone else? Are you nuts?
Think about this; if Tommy Hilfiger was indeed a big-time racist(or a
simple BIGOT), when why would he seek out young people of all races to
model his clothes in fashion shows, magazine and TV ads? Doesn't that
strike you as odd? Here, a white man's clothing line is embraced by a
large part of the hip-hop community. If I were in his shoes, I would
be one proud MF. And why would he make a statement like that on
national TV, on OPRAH no less, using the 'n' word in her presence? Any
right-thinking person with a high public profile would know better
than to shoot himself in the foot like that. Do you really think that
Tommy Hilfiger is stupid enough to go on Oprah and make such blatantly
bigoted remarks? Would Oprah even choose to air a show like that?
Sorry, Elson, if I'm rehashing what might be old news, but I can't see
the point in tarnishing the name of a man that may be falsely accused.
Let's not spread rumors until we can back them up with facts.

Take Care-----Paul Berger---
