i feel really weird doing this, but i wouldn't call puffy untalented, just
misguided/mistaken. his talent doesn't lie in mic skills or production.
he's
great at promotion--making things happen in a big way. he's also got an ear
 for talent--anyone remember craig mack?

er> Well, at least Will Smith can act.

speaking of, what is the deal w/"enemy of the state"? have they released
any
plot details yet? all i see are these grainy-ass ads that are bugging me
 because there's no info!!

diamond came out w/something last year, didn't he? brand nubian's back
(w/puba this time around), as are epmd, freestyle fellowship (check the
haiku
de tat, project blowed & aceyalone stuff), jungle bros., heiroglyphics (del,
souls of m, casual & saafir) rakim (sorry, eric's left the building) & lords

of the underground. tony d, producer for poor righteous, is down w/grand
central's crew (rae + christian, et. al), organized never really left--check
the hotlanta stuff for production creds--and maybe latifah should just
act...

er> Never too keen on NWA, or Cube's anti-semitisim, good, beats with

i don't think cube was any more anti-semitic than the 5% guys from back east
(brand nubian, etc.), not that that makes it ok...

> Dr. Octagon (Kool Keith),

don't forget keith was a member of ultramagnetics--i think that sample of
"smack my bitch up" was actually *him* in an ultramags tune.

>Not just
>looping a Steely Dan song "Black Cow" with one simple change.

why do people always loop that tune? it's one of the least interesting on
 the album (musically)...

>without "shout'n make dat money, cheedar,
>cristal sippin', rolex, versace', honey this n that. shit." And skills
>on the mic, OH YES!!!!!!!!!

if i hear another chorus about how life is all about makin' money--i.e.
that's the only thing that really matters--i'm gonna hurt someone!!

man, i had some girls last nite on my dick about spinnin' some old stevie
or marvin gaye. it's sad, because while they are still talking about good
music, it's really *safe* to talk about how dope stevie is. there's lots of
great music out there made in the last five years--listen to some of it!!
why do people define good as "something i'm familiar with"? how do they
 discover their new "favorite thing"?
