i agree with yvonne liu's comments on david holmes essential mix -- it's
absolutely fabulous and chock full of samples old and new.
unfortunately, it's currently and import and won't be available here in
the states til around feb/march. did anyone in new york catch him
spinning two fridays ago at twilo? i intended on going, but couldn't
seem to drag myself to twilo -- maybe one of my least favorite places.

snooze's album the man in the shadow is good. this may not be entirely
new -- i don't know if the entire album was previously released on
ssr/crammed or if only some material was previously released on comps,
but man in the shadow is a solid downtempo album.

looking forward to hearing dimitri from paris' remix of stetsasonic's
"talkin all that jazz" on tommy boy's perfect remixes series. also
would like to hear on soul jazz label 100% dynamite which i think is
mostly a collection of old reggae and ska.

new yorkers may want to check out vocalist, terry callier, on wednesday
at shine. i would think most people on this list -- at least those of
you who have an appreciation for the original music called acid-jazz
would appreciate terry callier's music. his old albums such as "what
colour is love" are beautiful works of art, somewhere between the
realms jazz and folk. i particularly like the track, i think its'
called dancing girl. his new album on verve/talkin loud is also worth
checking out. regarding the show and bio info, you can refer to giant
step's website for details.

i heard that vocalist shara nelson has a new project called presence
(don't know if that's the name of a group or the title of a
single/album). i had been wondering what had happened to her.

this is killing me -- i can't remember who did the soundtrack to
blow-up...anyone?

see you wednesday
caron
