Great information. I am moving to Beijing for 4 months starting October
and have been granted residency at one of the cooler clubs. The club
has a surprisingly funky, in house cd collection but unfortunately when
I am not there the staff immediately head for the Spice Girls/Mike and
the Mechanics section which can really destroy a groove ambience. The
other setback is that it is really difficult to get any sort of quality
continuity through their current double discman setup. Fortunately the
patrons are grateful for the tunes and aren't there for the skills but
nonetheless I am back in NY for a fortnight and have a reasonable budget
to buy some quality CD dj gear. I am not a technical guy so any help
would be appreciated. Also during the day I would love to hook the
system up to the net and beam in some real audio sites like the ones
above. Is it feasible that the radio programs like the above and Giles
P's Worldwide can be played at nighclub quality. I think this would be
a cool way to keep current in a musically barren place. I played a
couple of groovy sets there last week and they went absolutely wild,
hugging me, begging me for mixed tapes, the works.

Out on the Beat frontier..Patrick
