Well, for all those disappointed with the new UNKLE this is something to
lift your spirits a bit.... and if this doesn't do it i don't think you
will find anything that will.

This record is deep. Heavy on the repetition, thick ass beats, and the
mood is such that if you were in a horror movie, you would be on the
edge of your seat thinking that something was about to happen. After
having it for one day i think it's my favorite Krush ever (might be
hasty). It amazes me that he has such a strong signature style, and at
the same time can push it so far away from what he's done before. I want
to describe it as minimal yet there is so much that slips in and out.
Most of it is constantly changing as opposed to a lot of stuff on
Stricktly Turntablized where the repetition seemed to last longer. Here
there seems to be some subtle new twist every 4-8 measures. Clinking
piano keys, horns played too slow, tambourines, cellos, little toy
xylophones, asst. bleeps and bloops.... y'know how sometimes in a song
there is that one part where it breaks down and you go "aaauuuuu shit!"
then the bomb drops?. Usually that part is then focused on for the rest
of the song. However Krush sets the stage with this indian sitar vibe
and you get like 3 or 4 different "au shit" =) parts one after another.
This freekin tweeked out space bass drops into that indian vibe, then
you hear some wacked out skwawking jungle bird texture, then... uhhh...
i can't even describe it... doooooope!!!! Then back into some laid back
head nod shit for the next track. Mista Sinista of X-ecutioners fame is
featured on one track track, and there is one other track as well for
all the tablehappy scratcharatchers out there. No vocals throughout the
record, just very minimal use of an occasional word or two.

Also picked up a Silent Poets record with remixes from 4 hero, Ursula
Rucker's on there... i haven't given it a good listen yet. There are 2
volumes, the other one has a Jungle Brothers remix, Nightmares on wax,
and others. Pretty sweet.

One more. This house record, Mocho Supremo is great. (how did i manage to
start buying house?!) I know there was a quick mention about 16B record
on the list and this is in the same vibe. I finally got around to buying
this because it would go so well with that...

peace,
argo
