one of the reasons that i've continued to admit i liked
toto (despite all the snickers) is that they did some
really sweet r&b stuff in addition to the "guitar rock"
that they're known for. remember that the porcaros
(mostly steve & jeff), david paich & steve lukather were
the rhythm section on the thriller album. those guys
have worked on a lot of quincy jones's stuff from the
80s.

as a weird postscript, steve lukather (the guitarist)
sang lead vox on "georgie porgie" and a lot of their
other mellow tunes (e.g., "i'll be over you")...
