Thanks to Argo's tip I have discovered DUBSPOT record store in NYC.
They can get you Japanese imports, always have a good selection and are
really cool people.
I picked up the Glucklich 3 and it is excellent, although several of the
tracks ( Da Lata Pra Minha and Tom & Joyce have made it to other comps), I
am really happy to hear the jazzy stuff getting out there again, much
props the the Truby- Jazznova crew!!! Well worth getting.
Real Ibiza 2 was a nice suprise find, I usually steer clear of the Ibiza
collections, as they tend towards house too much, this comp is the
downtempo answer:
includes N.O.W., Da Lata (pra Manha again), A man called Adam, Two Lone
Swordsman, and about 12 more tracks as well. Good stuff, slightly housy
but then some.
Arabesque this is a middle eastern dance comp, with some familiar names:
Tranquility Bass, Stereo MCs (nothing new but a nice mid-easterny remix),
and some other traditional artists Momo and Chemi, plus remixes.
Does anyone know more about this type of music? It gets really bumpin at
times!
Also been really diggin Fela, Femi, and other Afro beat stuff and looking
forward to the Femi shows!
