I also remember a Balearic Beats compilation album coming out some time in
the 80s. I remember it had a Fini Tribe track that featured a distinctive
riff played on bells, also a Residents track that used the bassline from
Michael Jackson's Beat It.

I also remember the NME doing a feature. I think the basic gist of it was
you'd play anything good (what an amazing revelation).

New Beat also happened around the same time. This was basically slowed down
Belgian techno. All in all not a great time for dance music.
