had to say something about this thread ...

In an interview with Timbaland in an year-old issue of The Source
(yep , The Source) he was asked what he listens to ... he answered
"Portishead , Goldie , Bjork ... I'd love to work with her ..." A
producer of the stature and prolificness of Timbaland being open to
this music is enough to cross-pollinate a bit of the genre ...

Not entirely sure what's wrong with that ... the best music is that
which is truly experimental , but can be devilishly commercial at the
same time.

Carl Craig , Stacey Pullen , Theo Parish , Kenny Dixon Jr ... just
four of many techno-influenced African-Americans in Detroit making
relevant and important music at this very moment ... the scene there
is still very much alive ... as far as the innovators go , yes there
hasn't been much going on with their output but the story of Detroit
and how these men created a lineage that spawned the four names above
and more to come is a great story ... magazines love it , you're
gonna hear about it again and again ... (I think it's a pretty cool
story , too , by the way ) ...
