ALBUM OF THE WEEK: SEE IT IN SOUND, a long-long masterpiece from
composer/arranger Juan Garcia Esquivel. Recorded in 1960 but rejected by
his label, RCA, for being "too weird," this amazing recording was completely
lost and forgotten...until now. SEE IT IN SOUND shows Esquivel going way
beyond the "ping-pong" stereo effects and dynamic arrangements for which he
is (justifiably) famous. Here he's mixing orchestral scores with location
recordings and sound effects to create an imaginary movie soundtrack. Who
needs film when you can "see it in sound?"
