Theres something to be said for looking at the market
and bringing out an album that sells in big numbers
especially after paying dues to the art loving
illuminati. I have nothing against Nas or Raekwon or
any of those wordsmiths of superior caliber getting
there's, life is too short and Jazz has already
provided too many brilliant artists who kept it real
and died broke whilst some other guy was living off of
their art.
What annoys me is when the glitz becomes so much an
object of desire that it blocks out the sun and the
music. The rock mix of its all about the Benjamins
rocked but Jay Z and JD's Money aint a thang smelt
foul. Maybe I'm not ghetto fabulous enough or
something.
Selling out is cool if you do sell out (like Vanilla
Ice 13 mil. albums sold, that not nothing). The only
sad thing is if the album doesnt sell after selling
out..... Comebacks in Hip-Hop are kinda complicated as
the underground is unforgiving ask Kool Moe Dee,
Kurtis Blow etc.
