"People talk about Hiphop like it's some giant living in the hillside coming
down to visit the townspeople. We are Hiphop", -Mos Def
I got no problem dissing people who don't give credit where credit is due.
That wasn't my point. My point is that credit is due all around. Give it
out generously. NOBODY comes up with s**t on their own. Everybody's vibin
off of everybody else. Props to the Japanese for inventing 1200s (and
giving birth to Krush). Props to whatever Europeans, Americans for
developing the instruments that let Jazz come to be. Props to the Africans
for the Funk/Soul injection. Props to the Hiphop demographic for supporting
the art. Props to those who are always looking beyond what they already
know.
The world most definitely ain't black and white. Ask Elson.

You made this deft observation all on your own. Yea he uses the chili
peppers hook so what! And yea he says certain white people aint got no
soul, but the important part of the song is.....THEY AINT COME UP WITH THAT
S**T ON THEY OWN! Which is what the whole song is truly about, the people
he dissed in that song are white people (for the most part) that get tons of
credit for their so-called credit to music without giving the credit to the
people WHO HELPED THEM CREATE IT!!!! People like Elvis, The Rolling Stones,
and numerous others. He also names white people WHO DO GIVE CREDIT (Limp
Biskit, Korn) but he personally (and he says that!) does not like he instead
prefers Fishbone and Bad Brains. There's your dichomatic bulls**t,
explained.
