I think the album is over-produced. When you spend too much time
tweaking things in the studio, you often wind up with an album
this is so "plastic" that it's missing all the good qualities you
would no doubt hear in a live performance. Some bands that are
usually over-produced: Brand New Heavies, James Taylor Quartet,
Incognito. Some that are not: Greyboy Allstars, Galactic, 00-Soul.
 
I haven't heard Solaar's recent output, so I can't comment on it,
but PROSE COMBAT is one hell of a good album. IMHO.
