Dear Mark,
Part of the drama of radio is that there are people out there who want to
direct what you are playing for them! They are unable to just open their
hearts and let the music take them into the universe, so they therefore want
to hear you play what THEY want you to play, it's a bit sad really but a
fact nonetheless. I have some listeners who want me to play only drum and
bass and others who do not want to hear ANY of that kind of music. For Lee
Gordon to come down on you for what you played the other night was lacking
in grace totally, you volunteer your time to give what you can to the
cultural fabric of the listening area you reach. Please do NOT let these
sorts of stupid comments upset you, it is impossible to please all of the
folks all the time, much as we might want to always please all of our
listeners. Over the years ( I have been doing my show for 17 years!) I have
reached out to people and taken them to new places musically speaking
because they opened their hearts to the music and let it's magic work for
them, they deleted the ego-negativity that invades them and ceased to demand
and learned to accept and guess what ? They found that they loved music they
thought they hated. This is a letter of support from me to you and to any
other folks out there doing original programming and bringing music that
would remain anonymous to the world at large!
Best regards,
Leslie Shill/The Power Of Sound/KAZU 90.3 FM/Pacific Grove.
